Day of the Dead Inspired Spooky Halloween Mantel
I mean, it's not Halloween yet but October 1st is fair game for everything spooky. And candy corns. I'm three bags down. Don't judge me.
I also combined my love for candy with my love for Halloween and hot glue to create a Starburst Candy Corn Spider Web from my last post.
After creating the spider web I had to find somewhere to display my work of art. What better place than the mantel? It's the first time in about seven years we have lived in a house with a mantel. With the holidays coming that mantel is about to get worked!
But first, Halloween!
When I thought about how I wanted the mantel for Halloween, I immediately thought about Day of the Dead. Living in the southwest, Day of the Dead is kind of a big deal. We go to the parade every year. The tradition of the holiday comes from Mexico and it's a way to celebrate loved ones who have passed on by bringing flowers, gifts, and candy to their grave.
So I took that inspiration and gathered some items I had around my house.
